Solar Education Initiative – Burkina Faso Deployment

In response to a public procurement call in Burkina Faso, Sunslice supplied 500 Zenith solar backpacks equipped with Gravity 10 powerbanks to support schoolchildren in remote areas without reliable access to electricity. The initiative aimed to provide students with a sustainable way to charge lamps, tablets, and phones, promoting education and digital inclusion through clean, portable energy.

Solar Backpacks for Education

In many rural regions of Burkina Faso, children return from school to homes without stable electricity, making evening study and access to digital tools difficult. To address this challenge, a national education initiative launched a tender to provide solar-powered backpacks for students. Sunslice responded with its Zenith solar backpack — a durable, weather-resistant solution combining portability, functionality, and renewable energy.

Each Zenith backpack integrates a high-efficiency solar panel that charges a Gravity 10 powerbank during the day. Students can then use the stored energy to power LED lamps, charge tablets used in digital classrooms, or keep their phones connected. Lightweight and built with reinforced materials, the Zenith was designed for daily school use in hot, dusty, or humid environments.

Through this project, 500 units were delivered and distributed across several rural schools, providing an immediate and tangible improvement in energy access for students and teachers. The initiative contributes to broader goals of sustainable development and educational equity, empowering young learners with practical renewable technology.

About the Zenith Solar Backpack and Gravity 10 Powerbank

Clean, Portable Energy for Everyday Learning

The Zenith solar backpack integrates a lightweight, flexible solar panel capable of charging a Gravity 10 powerbank throughout the day. Designed for mobility and resilience, it combines energy independence with everyday practicality, featuring ergonomic straps, reinforced stitching, and water-resistant materials.

The Gravity 10 powerbank provides 10,000 mAh of capacity with dual USB outputs, offering enough energy to charge smartphones, tablets, LED lamps, or small educational devices. Both the backpack and powerbank are optimized for durability, simplicity, and ease of use — key factors for large-scale educational programs and NGO-driven distribution.

Compact, efficient, and emission-free, the Zenith and Gravity 10 pairing demonstrates how renewable technology can directly improve access to education and opportunity in developing regions.

By integrating solar energy into daily life, projects like this one help bridge the gap between technology and education — empowering the next generation through sustainable innovation.
